The conference took place on Saturday, May 31, 2008
George Sherman Union, Boston University
Please note the following for future reference:
(1) The only forms of payment we can accept the day of the event, for those who miss the pre-registration deadline, are cash, checks and money orders. We are not be able to accept credit or debit cards the day of the event, and we cannot accept direct bank wire transfers (or similar things, such as Western Union payments) at any time.
(2) For those persons attending whose company is sponsoring their attendance: Payment for them absolutely must be received in full in order for them to be registered and attend. If payment can not be postmarked by the deadline, they will have to pay for themselves and get directly reimbursed by their company.
(3) Anyone attending the conference, even if they are just a spouse or other "guest" of a registered attendee, must him- or herself be registered and paid in full. Also, anyone attending for less than the full day must still pay in full; no discounts are available for half-day attendance.
The conference includes presentations for those new to the field as well as for more experienced translators and interpreters. There are ample chances to meet and greet between sessions and during lunch and the closing reception.
This year's outstanding program included a wide-range of stellar presentations. Please click here for speaker bios and session abstracts.
And it counts! Attendees to this Conference who are certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) are eligible to earn up to six (6) Continuing Education points (CEPs). ATA-certified translators can earn a maximum of 10 CEPs per year and need 20 CEPs over 3 years to maintain their ATA certification. For those wishing to become certified, a sitting of the ATA Certification Exam is customarily scheduled for the day after the conference. Note that you must register for the exam through the ATA. For details on CEPs and ATA Certification testing, see http://www.atanet.org/bin/view.pl/285.html.
